
KARACHI: The US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson said the development and eradication of unemployment would help elimination of extremism in tribal areas.
Ambassador Patterson, while addressing a gathering of businessmen in Karachi Thursday said that United States spending US$ 750 million for development in tribal regions of Pakistan.
Patterson said that several projects are being implemented for improvement of security situation in Pakistan including US$ 300 million assistance to Pakistan military.
She said that the US congress has sympathy for the new government, and there would be no major shifts in policies if the Democrats won the US elections.
Ms Patterson said Pakistan was well positioned with a very attractive investment climate and her government would do its best to promote investment in Pakistan, with innovation being the key component.
The US Ambassador said that the new government had an opportunity to renegotiate a bilateral trade treaty with US…adding that this may lead to a Free Trade Agreement.
