
KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday condemned the postponement of the by-elections, saying he was not consulted in this regard.
Talking to The News at his Jillani House here before visiting Larkana, he said the Sindh government had no reservations over the schedule of the by-elections and no authority contacted him in this connection.
He said he will contact the authorities to seek the reason behind the postponement. He said he had no information about the directives of the Adviser on Interior to the NWFP chief minister.
Qaim said Rehman Malik had not contacted him regarding the postponement of the by-elections. He said he will hold meeting with the party on the issue and later ask the Election
Commission of Pakistan for restoring the by-election schedule.
Qaim said the law and order situation of Sindh is under control and his government has made a comprehensive strategy for maintaining law and order during the by-polls. The chief minister said recruitment from grade 1 to 6 is under way and his government will not violate the rules and regulations but break the status quo of favouritism and nepot-ism.
He said his party had reservations on the running of the district governments, and the performance of the district governments is very poor. Therefore, he desired to bring multiple changes in the district governments, he said.
