QUETTA: Central leader Jamhoori Watan Party (Brahmdagh Faction) Nawabzada Jamil Bugti on Monday said that the arrest and trial of those involved in the Balochistan operation, the rehabilitation of internally displaced people and immediate release of thousands of detained Baloch youth were preconditions if the rulers wanted to make the reconciliation process result-oriented.
Addressing a press conference here, along with former chief minister of Balochistan Mir Hummayun Marri, he claimed that the incumbent government was utterly powerless and was not in a position to implement the decisions it had taken. He added that despite the orders issued by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, the BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal was still in jail.
He said that the leader of the reconciliatory committee Senator Babar Awan had contacted him and other Baloch leaders. He hoped that in present circumstances, no Baloch leader would entertain the reconciliation process, adding that they had a bitter experience of surrendering arms in the 1970s. To a question, Nawabzada Jamil Bugti said that the operation was still continuing in Dera Bugti and other parts of the province.
