
BAGHDAD: The leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al-Masri, has been arrested, according to Iraqi defence ministry.
Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, was arrested by the US and Iraqi troops in the northern city of Mosul.
The US military in Iraq said it was currently looking into the reports. After the killing of Zarqawi by the US army, Muhajir was handed over the leadership of al-Qaeda in Iraq. The US placed a head money of 5 million dollars.
