
KARACHI: The new managing-director of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) kicked out three directors and 11 general managers who were drawing phenomenal salaries on contract basis, airlines officials told The News on Thursday.
The sacked directors are Amir Zafar, Quality Assurance, Jamil Malik, Flight Safety and Tariq Ejaz Qureshi, who was working without any assignment. The dismissed general-managers are: Najeeb Khan, Dr Tahir Baig, Mansoor Akram, Lt-Col (retd) Talat Omar, Imran Asad, Shehzad Aminullah, Uzma Bashir, Asim Ahmed, Imran Masood, Arshad Majid Bhatti and Humayun Javed Khan. Mrs Naeem, senior instructor grooming, has also been removed.
The retrenchment from senior management has come just two days after Managing-Director Ejaz Haroon took charge of the national flag carrier along with new Chairman Ahmed Mukhtar, the Defence Minister.
