
Jirga to meet NWFP governor

MIRANSHAH: A C-130 plane airlifted a 30-member Jirga of the Utmanzai tribe to Peshawar on Friday for a meeting with the NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani to resolve the issue of outstanding salaries of over 5,000 Khassadars in North Waziristan.
‘No place for bad performers in PIA’
ISLAMABAD: There cannot be any place in the national airlines for staffers holding bad performance records. Talking to Geo News, Defence Minister and Chairman PIA Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar said a change was being brought about in the management of the organisation and, thereafter, the cases of other staff would also be reviewed. The PIA chairman said there would not be special focus on sales promotion and the staff would be given new targets. Referring to the defence budget of Pakistan, he said this would be determined keeping the needs in view and it could also be reduced.
JUI senators meet PM
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said the government is paying special attention to the development of underdeveloped areas of the country. He expressed these views while talking to a group of JUI senators, who called on him at the Prime Minister House on Friday. The senators apprised the prime minister of various issues relating to their areas, particularly the construction of roads and provision of gas and clean drinking water. Leader of the House in the Senate Raza Rabbani also attended the meeting.
Hearing of Farooq’s petition adjourned
ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the hearing of a review petition of Siddiqul Farooq regarding his disqualification from holding public office in a case about utilisation of Rs 105,000 for gifts from the Entertainment Fund as Chairman House Building and Finance Corporation (HBFC) till May 12.
OIC backs Pakistan for UNHR council
UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan's bid for re-election to the UN Human Rights Council got a boost when the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) unanimously decided on Thursday to back its candidature. The decision was taken at an ambassadorial level meeting of the 57-member Islamic Group held in New York.
PHCBA to discuss judges issue

PHCBA President A Lateef Afridi and Secretary General Muhammad Isa Khan sent out invitations for the meeting on Friday.
