
ISLAMABAD: Rawalpindi Greens will play against Karachi Professionals Whites in the final of the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association (PVCA) championship, to be played here on Sunday (tomorrow) at the Diamond Club ground.
This is the first time a team of senior cricketers from Rawalpindi has qualified for the national final, as generally it used to be an affair between Lahore and Karachi senior players. Rawalpinid Greens snatched this honour from Lahore, as it comprises many quality first-class cricketers of the area.
Rawalpindi Greens marched into the national final by beating Islamabad Panthers in the regional final played last Sunday.
Led by Lt Gen Syed Absar Hussain, Rawalpindi Greens poses a serious threat to senior cricketers from Karachi who will be given a tough time. The Karachi Professionals Whites is led by former Test player Mansoor Akhtar and includes many former Test, international and first-class players.
