
ISLAMABAD: Sarah Mahboob and Natasha Afridi both won their semifinals in straight sets on Friday and will now clash in the ladies singles final of the 7th Sirajul Haq Memorial Open Tennis Championship, being played at the PTF Complex clay courts here.
While national champion Sarah Mahboob eliminated Mehek Khokhar 6-4, 6-4, Natasha Afridi outplayed second seed Sarah Mansoor without conceding a single game by 6-0, 6-0.
Kashanul Haq annexed the boys singles under 13 title by beating Salman Bin Saleem in straight sets. Salman was leading 5-3 in the first set but could not maintain the tempo. Kashanul Haq won the first set at 7-5 by winning four straight games.
Kashanul Haq won the second set quite easily at 6-2. In the Senior Doubles 45 plus event, Hamidul Haq and Kaleem Imam won the final match against Brig Rehan and Ali Akbar in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.
Men’s singles quarter-final: Hamidul Haq bt Nouman Yahya 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Men’s singles semifinals: Ikramul Haq bt Sadanul Haq 3-6, 7-5, 6-4; Saeedul Haq bt Hamidul Haq 7-6(4), 2-0 (ret).
Ladies singles semifinals: Sarah Mahboob bt Mehek Khokhar 6-4, 6-4; Natasha Afridi bt Sara Mansoor 6-0, 6-0.
Boys under 17 singles semifinals: Sadanul Haq bt Ahmed Chaudhry 6-1, 6-3; Jibranul Haq w/o Haseeb Bin Faiz (no show).
Boys Under 13 singles final: Kashanul Haq bt Salman Bin Saleem 7-5, 6-2.
