
KHARTOUM: Sudanese soldiers clashed with Darfur rebels of the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) in the north of the capital Khartoum on Saturday where a curfew has now been imposed.
According to the army, army forces are currently facing attack by rebels loyal to (JEM leader) Khalil Ibrahim in the north of Omdurman.
A curfew was imposed in the Sudanese capital from 1400 GMT on Saturday until 0300 GMT Sunday, the interior ministry said in a separate statement.
It urged Khartoum residents to say indoors and be vigilant.
It was not immediately known if there were any casualties in the fighting.
