
HYDERABAD: The employees and officers of the United Bank Limited (UBL), who were removed in 1997, have demanded of the PPP Co-chairperson, PML-N chief and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to reinstate them.
Speaking at a news conference at the Hyderabad Press Club on Sunday, the UBL officers, including Zulqarnain Shah and others, said more than 6,000 officers and employees, who were promoted in 1994, were removed by the then UBL President Zubair Soomro.
They said the former prime ministers ñ Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto ñ had assured them of reinstatement, while the victims also knocked the doors of the Services Tribunals and other concerned quarters but had not been reinstated so far. Meanwhile, retired officers and employees of the Allied Bank Limited have demanded of the concerned authorities and the bank management to increase their pension amount because the pension being given to them at present was inadequate in the face of the prevailing price hike.
