
LAHORE: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) seems divided over the issue of augmenting lawyers’ movement for the restoration of deposed judges, however, the Bar has decided to organize a long march for the reinstatement of the sacked judges and will announce its decision today in Lawyers convention.
The meeting of PBC was held in Lahore High Court, which was presided over by PBC Vice-Chairman Syed Rehman. 17 members participated in the meeting.
He said that the PBC had decided not to interfere with Supreme Court Bar Association President Aitzaz Ahsan contesting the by-elections, as the bar had nothing to do with Aitzaz contesting the elections.
PPP ‘s Sardar Latif Khosa and 8 other members were supportive of a parliamentary decision for restoration of judges, while 9 others backed the idea of augmenting Lawyers’ movement for resolving the crisis.
After the meeting it was decided that the date, venue and other decisions regarding long march would be taken in Lawyers convention. Lawyers also agreed not to criticize Asif Ali Zardari and the present government over the judges’ reinstatement issue.
