
ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf underlining Pakistan's commitment to a closer and broad-based relationship with the United States on Friday reiterated the country's firm resolve to fighting terrorism and extremism.nnIn this regard, he also underscored the importance of a comprehensive, multi-pronged counter-terrorism strategy.nnThe President was talking to a three-member Congressional delegation led by Congressman Gene Green that called on him in Rawalpindi today.nnDiscussions covered bilateral relations, including matters relating to economic and counter-terrorism cooperation.n nThe President said the war is being fought against terrorism for Pakistan’s own interest.nnHe appreciated the Congressional support for Pakistan's counter-terrorism initiatives, such as the establishment of Reconstruction Opportunity Zones (ROZs), FATA Development Plan and FC capacity building.nnHe underlined the need for greater market access for Pakistani products in the U.S.nnThe visiting Members of Congress conveyed their support for a strong and broader relationship with Pakistan.nnThey appreciated Pakistan's commitment to fighting terrorism and extremism while reaffirming their support for Pakistan's social development goals.nnThe bipartisan delegation led by Congressman Gene Green (Democrat-Texas) includes Congressman Mike McCaul (Republican-Texas) and Congressman Henry Cuellar (Democrat-Texas).
