LONDON: Chelsea striker Didier Drogba would consider a move to Real Madrid, according to his agent.
Drogba has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, in spite of the Ivory Coast international claiming he does not want to leave the Blues.
Barcelona have been linked with Drogba, while a reunion with former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan has also been rumoured as a possibility. Drogba’s agent Pierre Frelot has reiterated that the former Marseille man is happy at Chelsea, but has hinted that he could be interested in a move to Real.
“Why not,” Frelot said in the Daily Mirror when asked about the possibility of Drogba moving to the Bernabeu. “Didier is calm because he is at a great club like Chelsea, but Real Madrid are also a great club,” he added.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have warned Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho that they will not wait much longer for a decision on his future. City have been tracking the Barca superstar since the end of last season and are believed to have held discussions with the Brazilian’s representatives on at least one occasion.
A deal is thought to have already been agreed with his current employers, and the Premier League club are now waiting to hear back from the player himself.
However, with reports on Thursday suggesting that the former World Player of the Year is closing in on a move to Italian giants AC Milan and is also open to a Chelsea switch, City’s patience is wearing thin.
With Mark Hughes keen to press on with his summer transfer plans, the club’s executive chairman Garry Cook admits that the Premier League side will turn their attentions elsewhere should the saga continue to drag on with no apparent end in sight.
“We definitely don’t want to be sitting waiting for a decision from Ronaldinho,” he said in the Daily Mail. “A mutual decision has to be made. We are setting our own timeline. We’re not going to sit and wait. This is too big a football club for that,” he said.
Cook is refusing to give up hope, though, that an agreement can be reached and believes that City are now an attractive proposition for the world’s best players. “Ronaldinho wants to be in the best league with a big club,” Cook added. “There is no hiding the fact that success for this club is imminent,” he added.
Also, Paris Saint Germain manager Paul Le Guen has held initial transfer talks with Chelsea’s Claude Makelele. The former Lyon and Rangers boss is a long-term admirer of the ex-France international, although he is yet to sign the 35-year-old holding midfielder.
Le Guen has now confirmed he has told Makelele he wants to see him playing at the Parc des Princes this coming season.
However, it remains to be seen if Le Guen’s wish will be granted as Makelele, who has a year left on his Blues deal, has previously stated he is looking to end his career at Stamford Bridge.
