
LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways table tennis team won 16 medals during the recent National Junior Table Tennis Championship which has concluded in Quetta.
Railways earned five gold, five silver and six bronze medals and achieved the target entrusted to them. Railways improved their position as they bagged 14 medals in the last edition of the event at Hyderabad.
Competitions were held for Under 12, Under 15 and Under 18 players and the most noteworthy feature for Railways was the display of Salman Virk, Rameez Khan and Shumaila Wasti who managed berths in the Junior South Asian Federation (SAF) Table Tennis Championship being played from July 9-13 at Karachi.
The medallists were: Gold (5) — Boys U15 Team Event, Salman Virk (Boys U18 Singles), Rameez Khan (Boys U15 Singles), Salman Virk/Rameez Khan (Boys U15 Doubles), Rameez Khan (Boys U12 singles).
Silver (5) — Boys U18 Team Event, Salman Virk (Boys U15 Singles), Girls U15Team Event, Shumaila Wasti (Girls U15 Singles), Spoogmai Saeed (Girls U12 Singles).
Bronze (6) — Syed Awais/ Salman Virk (Boys U18 Doubles), Abdullah Muhammad/ Rameez Khan (Boys U18 Doubles), Sameera Aftab (Girls U12 Singles), Shumaila Wasti (Girls U12 Singles).
