
KARACHI: South Zone attained their second win in two days in the 1st Women’s National Twenty20 Quadrangular Cricket Championship, when they defeated North Zone by 12 runs on the second day of the competition, here at the Quaid-e-Azam Park in the Pakistan Steel Mills Township on Saturday.
Both teams, in fact, made the identical score of 93 for seven in their respective 20 overs. But North Zone were declared defeated as they were guilty of a slow over-rate in the match. North Zone’s Sana Javed, who was later declared Player of the Match, top-scored with 44 runs of 43 balls with five fours and a six. South Zone and Pakistan Women’s skipper Urooj Mumtaz captured three wickets for 23 runs while Javeria Khan got two for 19.
The highest individual score for South Zone was Nahida Khan’s run a ball 23 that included three fours. Sana Mir hit 20 off 28 deliveries with three fours. For North Zone, Shakila Naz took two wickets for six runs. The second match of the day yesterday was later to be played between Central Zone Blues and Central Zone Greens at the same venue. Sunday (today) will be a rest day.
