KARACHI: Diya Women FC will face Rawalpindi’s Young Rising Stars while Lahore’s WP Club will take on Vehari United in two crucial encounters of the Super Four round of the First National Inter-club Women Football Championship, to be held at the Punjab Football Stadium in Lahore today (Sunday).
The results of the matches will decide the champions of the tournament. The first match will be held between WP Club and Vehari United at 4:00pm while Diya Women FC from Sindh will meet Young Rising Stars at 5:30pm. This match will be followed by the prize distribution ceremony.
There is an interesting situation as both Diya Women FC and WP Club from Lahore have four points each from two matches. However, Diya Women FC have a slight edge over WP Club as the former have scored four goals in two matches while the latter have to their credit just two goals.
Keeping in view such a difference both sides will strive to defeat their opponents with a better margin today to wear the crown. On the other hand Young Rising Stars from Rawalpindi have won just a single match when they snatched a 1-0 win against Vehari United on Friday.
The coach of Diya Women FC Yaqoob Baloch told ‘The News’ from Lahore on Saturday that Young Rising Stars was a good side and his team will have to go all out to score a win with a good margin in order to clinch the title.
