
KARACHI: The KASB Premier League, carrying 16 teams, will start here at different venues from August 16.
In the league total 133 matches would be held and would conclude on January 17. The league coordinator Riaz Ahmad told The News on Wednesday that the competition would be completed in two rounds. The first round would be played under single league system and at the end top eight teams would qualify for the second round. The second round would be conducted on double league basis, he informed.
He said Shehzad Mohammadan, Usman Abad Union, Maripur Baloch, Karachi United, Karachi Kickers, Haideri Baloch, Hazara Mohammadan, Baloch Mujahid, Maymar Sports (District Central), Ghareeb Nawaz Dalmya (East), Ghani XI (West), Sharafi Mohammadan), Lal Bakhsh Memorial (South) and three others, whoseí selection would be made after trials, would participate in the event.
The six venues have been named for the tournament including CDGK Stadium, PSB Coaching Centre, Korangi Baloch Stadium, DHA Stadium, Colony Sports Stadium while Shadab Football Ground has been placed as reserve venue. He said the victorious team will be awarded Rs 1,000,000 while other positions holders and the best players will also be given away prizes as well. He said that over 10 million Rs will be spent on the league.
