
KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Women Development Tuaqeer Fatima Bhutto has said that there was a need to inform women about their rights and provide them forums and opportunities so that they could play their role in policy and decision making processes.
Addressing a seminar at a local hotel, she said that Islam has given right of inheritance to women and it should be implemented in letter and spirit. She said that women could be empowered economically by providing them required facilities.
The minister said that government had chalked out a plan under Benazir Youth Support Program for urban and rural areas to give job-oriented training to youth.
The minister said the basic problem of women is lack of information about their rights, adding female councilors should play their due role for the betterment of women.
She said that notorious traditions of Wani and Karo-Kari had tarnished the image of country and the government was enacting laws to curb these menaces.
