
KARACHI: Hamza Amin was the surprise leader of the pack after the opening two rounds of the national golf trials under progress in Islamabad to select a three-man Pakistan team for October’s Eisenhower Trophy to be held in Australia. Hamza, son of legendary golfer Taimur Hassan, who is also the secretary of the Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF), was going steady with scores of 72 and 74 to lead a pack of 22 aspirants.
The top three players from the trials will represent Pakistan in the Eisenhower Trophy to be played from October 16-19.
On a difficult course of the Islamabad Golf Club, Hamza made full use of familiar conditions to enjoy a six-shot lead at mid-way stage.
He is chased by Waseem Rana of DHA Karachi, Aadil Jehangir of Lahore Gymkhana and Muhammad Rehman of Royal Palm Golf Club. Waseem had rounds of 76 and 74 for an aggregate of 150, while Aadil and Rehman are at 152.
Others in contention are Tariq Mehmood at 153, Naeem Khan at 155, Muhammad Ali Hai at 156 and Ejaz Hussain at 156.
