
ISLAMABAD: Renowned Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz was laid to rest here on Tuesday after hundreds of thousands of people, including the elite, offered his Namaz-e-Janaza.
The great poet died in the night between Monday and Tuesday after his prolonged illness. Chief of the JUI-S Maulana Sami-ul-Haq led the prayer while NWFPís Senior Minister Rahim Dad Khan, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Karim Kundi, PML-N leader Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, senators SM Zafar and Waseem Sajjad attended the prayer. Meanwhile, the National Assembly offered Fateha for the soul of Ahmed Faraz. On a point of order, MQM MNA Khush Bakhat Shujaat called for offering of Fateha for the famous poet. Also, the Senate offered Fateha for one of greatest Urdu poets. Sahibzada Khalid Jan led the Fateha prayer.
