ISLAMABAD: The Awami National Party (ANP) sought explanation from PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari over his statement in which he (Zardari) had said the ANP did not want the restoration of the deposed judges.
ANP leader Senator Haji Adeel told Online that the statement issued by Asif Ali Zardari was not correct as the ANP wanted the judges to be restored and would not compromise on the issue. Reiterating their commitment for the restoration of all the deposed judges, including deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, he said no minus-one formula was acceptable for the ANP.
He said Asfandyar Wali had clearly said that the ANP wanted the restoration of the judges. “The ANP is part of the lawyersí movement,” added Haji Adeel. He urged the PPP Co-chairman to clarify his position, as his statement had damaged their party’s image in the masses.
