SRINAGAR: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has warned that India''s heavy-handed crackdown on civilians could trigger a renewed violent upsurge in the valley.

A large number of people took to the streets on Sunday against the death of a 20 year old man who was killed by police yesterday.

According to eye witnesses police fired tear-gas and used force to disperse the protesters.

Meawhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has urged India to accept the Kashmiris right to self-determination which he said is the only way out of the prevailing crisis.

He also vowed to continue peaceful protests until the demands are met.
