ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) would lose the seats of the opposition leader in the National Assembly and the Senate after its disgraceful defeat in the presidential elections.
On the other hand, the PML-N would again submit application before National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza, asking her to allot them opposition seats in the lower house. Sources said after the approval of the resignations tendered by the PML-N ministers, the National Assembly speaker would allot the opposition seats to the PML-N members on Monday (today).
After taking the opposition seats by the PML-N, Chaudhry Nisar Ali would be made the opposition leader in the National Assembly because the majority of members belonging to the PML-Q forward bloc supported the presidential candidate of the PML-N in the presidential elections, the sources said. It is also expected that a member belonging to the PML-Q forward bloc would get the opposition leader slot in the Senate and the Punjab Assembly.
