PESHAWAR: NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani went to the Zangli Post at the Kohat Road on Sunday where a number of persons, including police personnel were killed in a suicide attack.
The governor also met some of the affected people, who apprised him of the details of their losses. CCPO Peshawar Dr Muhammad Sulaiman and other senior government officials were also present on the occasion.
Talking to the affected people, the governor said neither Islam allowed the killing of innocent people nor it was any service to humanity. He said every patriotic citizen felt deep depression over the tragic incident, which was one of the series being experienced in the country for quite some time.
In fact, Owais said, Pakistan was the only country in the Islamic world, which not only was created on the basis of an Islamic ideology but it had also attained atomic capability. “Because of this, if there are friends, there is no dearth of enemies as well,” he added.
“The nefarious designs of terrorists to weaken the country are quite open. The terrorists are out to create anarchy by promoting linguistic and sectarian differences in the society,” the governor said.
He warned the government would never allow this and it was already successfully overcoming the difficulties. “The government will ensure safety and security of the people at every cost,” he said, adding “weakening Pakistan is no service to Islam at all.”
