
KARACHI: Abdul Halim’s five goals helped the champions of district Malir Sharafi Mohammadan to outclass Ghareeb Nawaz Dalmiya by 5-0 in a match of the Premier League Football held here at the CDGK Stadium on Saturday night.
Abdul Halim struck twice in the first half while scored three more in the second session, finishing at five goals, the best individual performance in a match from any player in the league so far.
He could complete double hat-trick had he not missed the open net twice in the last two minutes. Earlier, in the first half both sides played very exciting game, testing each other’s defence with incisive rallies.
Sharafi Mohammadan got onto the scoresheet through a 20-yard drive from Abdul Halim in 25th minute. Ghareeb Nawaz Dalmiya could bring an equalizer in 32nd minute but Zuber Ahmad’s close range shot hit the goalkeeper on his chest.
Abdul Halim doubled the lead for Sharafi Mohammadan in 42nd minute, this time with a gentle push on a pass from Muhammad Azam. At half time, Sharafi Mohammadan were leading with 2-0. However, in the second half Sharafi Mohammadan excelled throughout, opting for short and intelligent passes which brought the opponents under pressure. Abdul Halim kept on scoring goals in the second session as well, adding to the tally in 70th, 76th and 82nd minute, helping his side seal a comfortable 5-0 win. The victory took Sharafi Mohammadan’s points to seven from three matches while Ghareeb Nawaz Dalmiya have just one point from three matches.
