
WASHINGTON: US President George W. Bush has vowed to stabilize the American economy. Emphasizing that high anxiety among both investors and the general public is making the credit crisis more severe.
President Bush acknowledged mounting worry among people about their retirement and investment accounts--- and has promised Americans the government will be working "aggressively" to restore stability to the economy.
Bush says US is also working closely with its partners from around the world to steady stressed financial markets.
He spoke as world markets tumbled amid rising fears of a global recession, despite interest rate cuts and huge cash injections by central banks.
