TORONTO: Pakistan cricket team manager, Talat Ali Malik said title victory in Toronto T-20 tournament will add to the confidence of new look Pakistan team, serving an ideal chance to the young players to expose themselves to high quality international cricket.
“We have some new players in the side who are never played for Pakistan and this tournament is a good opening for them to make their mark in international cricket”, he told media here on Friday.
Batsman Shoaib Khan and medium pacer Anwer Ali are the two players who will be making their debut in international cricket, besides there are other young players including pacer Sohail Khan, Khalid Latif and Fawad Alam who are making a come back in the senior team after playing in home series in the past.
The team has six bowlers in the squad which shows selectors reliance on pace battery against weaker teams like Zimbabwe and Canada and Pak team can face real threat from former world champions Sri Lanka who is the fourth team of the tournament which ends on October 14 at Kings city stadium.
“It is not necessary that we are going to field all of them (pace bowlers) in every match. We will be fielding a side which should be balanced and can face the opponents in a decent manner”, he said adding “We have with us Shoaib Akhtar who is experienced enough to destroy any batting line up and to motivate fellow young bowlers”.
Pak team manager rejected a questioner that team lacks in batting in the absence of world record holder, Muhammad Yousaf.
