
TORONTO: Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik said reaching the final of Toronto T20 tournament is a big achievement of his young team which beat Sri Lanka in a thrilling manner.
“It was collective effort on part of the young players who turned the table on the opponents in end when things were quite difficult for Pakistan at 91 for 7,” he said here on Sunday.
He said young Fawad Alam impressed with stroke play and led the side to success with one b all remaining.
“I want to give credit to all the players, specially the young ones in the ranks and with such fine performances they are in the process of blending themselves in fine cricketers,” he said.
He said at one stage defeat was staring at Pakistan but the responsible batting of Fawad and he snatched a narrow victory.
Malik hot who scored 42 off 33 balls and slammed back to back boundaries in the final over with Fawad adding 23 off just eight deliveries, hitting three towering said much was left on him as a captain and he is delighted to see his team winning.
