No threat to Australia’s supremacy: BevanHYDERABAD, India: Former Australia batsman Michael Bevan has said there is no threat to Australia’s supremacy, in spite of having not having experienced personnel in its ranks, thanks mainly to its competitive bench strength.

Bevan, who is India these days on a coaching assignment with the Indian Cricket League (ICL), said though he was involved in coaching, he was closely following the Test series between India and Australia.

He said he expected India to run Australia close in the four-Test series, but expected Australia to come up on top.

“Perhaps, the present Australian side is not as strong as it was five years ago. They will face challenges from teams like India, England and South Africa but with the bench strength being competitive, Australia will remain the world champions, barring a few hiccups here and there,” he added.

The 38-year old also added that the likes of Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke and Mitchell Johnson could all fit into the ‘big names’ category, because they had consistently been delivering match winning performances.

“Keeping in mind the performances given by Michael Clarke, Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson over a period of time one can say that they are the future of Australian cricket and have the ability to fit into the ‘big names’ category,” he said.
