PESHAWAR: Amid continuous pressure by the Afghanistan government, the law-enforcement agencies are still searching for the missing Afghan ambassador-designate to Pakistan, Abdul Khaliq Farahi, after 20 days of his kidnapping from the posh Hayatabad Township.
Farahi, 51, is missing since September 22 when armed men picked him up from Hayatabad Phase-III after shooting dead his driver, Khalid. A few days ago the media reported that the missing diplomat had been recovered. The news convinced the public to some extent but generated a new controversy. However, law-enforcement agencies are still looking every nook and corner to recover the diplomat. “We had heard that the top Afghan diplomat has been recovered but officially we have no information about his return and we are still searching different areas for him,” a senior police official told The News requesting anonymity. The official disclosed that a detailed report on the investigation carried out so far had been sent to NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani a couple of days ago.
