
ISLAMABAD: Two Pakistanis, three Indians and one player each from South Korea, Tunisia and Thailand qualified for the main draw of the PSO-ITF Pakistan Futures International Tennis Championship Leg One, at the PTF Tennis Complex here on Monday.
The qualifiers were Issam Jellali (TUN), Fariz Muhammad (IND), Peerakit Siributwong (THA), Shahzad Khan (PAK), Yannick Nelord (IND), M Abid Ali Khan Akbar (PAK), Sang-Gyun Kim (KOR) and Pulkit Mishra (IND).
Shahzad Khan of Pakistan was in excellent form and eleminted Aftab Anwar in straight sets by displaying a serve-volley game. Abid Ali Khan also made the main draw by eliminating Mubashir Afridi of Karachi.
Issam Jellali of Tunisia pulled off an upset by beating top seed Rohan Gide of India in a well contested three-set match. Fariz Muhammad of India also caused an upset by beating second seed Yasir Khan of Pakistan in a good three set match of the day.
Pulkit Mishra of India worked hard to win his encounter against Usman Ejaz of Pakistan.
Dr Sultan Gangji, ITF Referee, arranged the main draw of the men’s singles event. According to the draw the top four seeds are Bojdan-victor Leonte (ROU), Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (IND), Mikhail Vasiliev (RUS) and Aqeel Khan (PAK). The main draw matches will start at 10:00am today.

Peerakit Siributwong (THA) beat B Bikram Reddy (IND) 6-1, 6-3. Shahzad Khan (PAK) beat Aftab Anwar (PAK) 6-0, 6-1. Yannick Nelord (IND) beat Deepinder Bains (IND) 6-2, 7-6(6). M Abid Ali Khan Akbar (PAK) beat Mubashir Afridi (PAK) 6-2, 6-2. Sang-Gyun Kim (KOR) beat Khurram Nazir (PAK) 6-0, 6-4. Pulkit Mishra (IND) beat Usman Ejaz (PAK) 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
