LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has accused Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer of being involved in ‘unethical and un-Islamic activities’ and said the provincial government would take a strict notice of it.
Talking to media outside the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, Rana Sanaullah said they did not consider the Punjab governor a part of the PPP and the provincial government would take notice of staging dance and drink parties at the Governor House and posing for ‘un-Islamic photographs.’
He said the governor was one of remnants of former president Pervez Musharraf and was responsible for harming the national economy. He said it was beyond the tolerance of the people of the Punjab that the occupant of the Governor House was involved in ‘un-Islamic activities.’
He said if a poor man was found involved in an un-Islamic activity, he was caught by police but the governor was left scot-free. He urged the PPP leadership to review its decision of Taseer’s appointment.
About the letters from the Governor House to the provincial government, he said they neither attached any importance to the letters written by the governor nor would respond to them. He said they had no rivalry with the PPP as its ministers were fully cooperating with them. “The PPP has accommodated the PML-N in difficult situations and the PML-N has helped the PPP on a number of occasions,” he added.
He claimed the PML-N had no differences with the PPP in the province. He said the PPP was committed to strengthening democracy and was their ally in the Punjab. He said they would accommodate all the bills forwarded by the opposition.
