
ISLAMABAD: Various functions will be arranged to commemorate the first death anniversary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed in the United Kingdom, said Asif Naseem Rathore, the PPP president of Bradford Chapter, in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that the Pakistani community and the PPP United Kingdom had arranged various seminars, symposia to observe the death anniversary of their slain leader, Mohtarma
Benazir Bhutto, throughout the UK.
Sardar Naseem said that besides the Pakistani community and workers of the PPP, invitations had also been issued to representatives of the United Kingdom government to participate in the functions and pay tributes to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
He said that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had spent most of her life in the UK and had special contacts and love with Pakistanis living there. The services and sacrifices of the late Benazir Bhutto for the cause of democracy and Pakistan are acknowledged with high esteem in the United Kingdom, he added.
Sardar Naseem expressed the hope that Co-chairman of the PPP President Asif Ali Zardari would visit the UK in the next few months. He said that an invitation in this regard had already been given to the president by the Pakistani community and the PPP, UK chapter.
During his stay in Pakistan, Sardar Naseem said he met with the leadership of the PPP, including Jehangir Badar, Rana Farooq Ahmed, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Ashiq Firdous Awan and discussed with them various matters regarding strengthening of the party in the UK.
He said the expatriate Pakistanis living in the UK were fully supporting policies of the present government to steer the country out of the present crisis, strengthen democracy and to establish the supremacy of the Constitution.
