ISLAMABAD: Telecard Limited (TCL) on Wednesday confirmed that it has received show cause notice from PTA and stated the company believes that PTA issued the notice without undergoing the appropriate processes to comply with the requirements of form and substance in such matters.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had issued Show Cause Notice to Telecard Telecom Limited for allegedly violating telecommunication regulatory laws of Pakistan.
According to the statement issued by the company after reported show cause notice sent by the PTA, “without prejudice to the position of the Company, in the context of this notice, and notwithstanding the Company’s belief that the notice has evidently been issued by PTA without undergoing the appropriate processes to comply with the requirements of form and substance in matters of this nature.
The Company vehemently denies the contents in the said notice. Furthermore, it intends to seriously and forcefully represent itself at the appropriate forum, in line with the rules and law to refute the unfounded contents.”
Aamir Niazi, the Vice Chairman of the Corporation, took the opportunity to express his disappointment at this unwarranted development. This is particularly true in view of the Company’s meticulous conformance to sound ethical practices. This includes a vigilant Code of Conduct, which Telecard follows in its business dealings.
He added that not only has the Company always refrained from any un-transparent practices, it has in fact assisted PTA with substantial financial resources, enabling the authority to prevent and monitor the menace of illicit international telephony.
“Telecard is now one of the largest international telephony operators in Pakistan, and it has the conviction that PTA will value its role in this context,” he concluded.
